Lacus

Lacus

Lake transformed from ice or volcano
had not appeared then disappeared
in immemorial cycle for a human
in the same water billions of larvae
at the surface of the water endless wings
in the water a foundry of billions of scales
in multiple species never equal
according to thirst according to hunger
I lost myself as a child in those reeds
then I swam across it as a challenge
I smashed the delays the bans and the secrets
and learnt to spin around in a vacuum
in lakeside time the two of us lived
in a time of marshes we went our ways.
